Guide to Surviving the School Year

The school year is rolling! Whether you have kids at home or are working to serve them at your agency (or both), that means a routine – of sorts – is underway.  For me, I feel like it just started AND has been going on already for months. How is that possible?

Whatever your circumstances, what challenges are you facing? What’s your “hot topic” at home or working with kids just now?

As a parenting expert, I get a lot of questions (and complaints) about back to school. The first few weeks are new and we find ourselves trying new things to be more productive, more organized. We have every intention of keeping these habits, but then we slip back into our old ways and we can see what struggles we have (and our kids have) with back to school.

I put together some resources for you that may help with getting a smooth start to the new school year.

This is an article I contributed to for Responsibility.org. These back to school supplies don’t cost a thing, but they may save your kids especially in a situation they face with alcohol or drugs.

Are your kids being bullied or witnessed bullying? Do you want to jump in and get involved?

Don’t want your kid to be stinky? Tired of reminding your kids about basic hygiene? Do you have a younger child you want to become more independent when it comes to hygiene? Here are some tips for you.

Work with your kids to create a plan for situations they may get into and have trouble exiting from.

Great to share with your kids the next time they need to ask you for permission.

This simple tip can help you avoid becoming a “chauffer” and get you back to being “mom” or “dad”.
