Tantrums don't always end...

during the preschool years. Many kids are not born with the resilience to handle their own toughest emotions. That is normal! Other children seem to grasp this skill well, but then puberty hormones creep in and you may see meltdowns that look just like ten years ago. Kids need to know:

Emotions matter.

Children (and adults) need to be able to express their feelings. Telling kids to "stop crying" or "just relax" will backfire every time.

Avoiding meltdowns requires alternatives.
