Do your kids see cyberbullying?
They do if they own a phone, or spend any time on a social media platform. One of the awful effects of bullying for the bystanders - the kid or teen who sees it but wasn't the aggressor or the victim - is that it still causes harm! Seeing bullying is like watching any kind of violence.
In the witness, it increases
anxiety
fear
vigilance
This means a child is more likely to guard their words at least, and lie or attack first at worst.
So Your Teen Magazine asked me to give parents 10 conversation starters that work to get teens talking about what they see, and do, online.
