Thank you, sincerely and also – resilience is like the stock market

Hi,

Last week I wrote to you about my own struggle with resilience.

If you’ve been around here for a bit, you’ve likely heard me mention that resilience is a growth commodity. The advantage of which is that we can take intentional steps to grow our resilience. The downside, however, is that resilience can also drop – sometimes dramatically. And I’m here to tell you – my resilience ain’t great just now. I’m tired, and sleeping poorly. I’m sad, and working hard to find my natural optimism. I’m sure it’s around here somewhere…

I’m also learning a lot. A lot about what helps me, and even more about giving myself a minute. A great deal about my community, and the most about all of you. Your responses and kindness and connection have overwhelmed me in the best way possible. So the resilience I do have, well, a significant portion of that is thanks to you.

This is me road testing my own strategies. Building connections? Check. Setting boundaries? Check. Managing discomfort? All day, every day.

Now I want to ask you: how’s your resilience? When you notice a sudden drop, what’s your go-to strategy to find the strength you need? Comment and tell me if you will!

All my best,

Dr. G
