The day you didn’t know you needed

Guess what? There is such a thing as National Resilience Day! No, I did not make this up. It’s March 4th every year – get it, March Forth? Because you’re resilient enough to march… forth.
There are National Days for every last thing, I know. For example, National Ice Cream Day is April 26th. You’re welcome. Which is also National Pilot’s Day. So go have ice cream with your favorite pilot that day, I do.
Anyway, I’m mentioning this because I’ve decided to celebrate. By creating a gift for you.
And also to get you thinking about resilience as a thing you can gift to people. You can do that in any of these easy ways:
Building them up with an authentic compliment that highlights something they did – not only something they are
Modeling resilience building by doing something that strengthens you, because your people are always watching and learning from you even if they don’t mention it
Noticing when one of your people is lagging on their resilience and choosing NOT to give them a task or ask a question right that minute so that you don’t pile on
More on that next week – when you’ll get my weekly email a day early in honor of National Resilience Day. And in the meantime I’ll just ask… will you do anything to celebrate? In addition to grabbing the cool thing I’m going to send you of course!
All my best,
Dr. G
